Something Visible of The Invisible

Yesterday, Nov 13th, was quite a day! Being a Sunday we had the normal morning rush to get to church, participate in a wonderful service etc. But after that service we had a baptismal service at our sister church. It was there that I (Bill) got to be "in the tank" with 3 of our young people from the church and pray for them and assist in their baptism. What an awesome experience and priveledge to be asked by those young people to stand by them as they publicly professed their faith in the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

After the service we invited all the youth to our house. This was actually a planned get together, we just started it a bit earlier and order pizza and KFC for all to enjoy.

Talking with these young men and women we discussed just what being baptized was. One 14 year old gal said, "Memo, es algo visible de lo invisible". "Memo" is what I'm called here in Mexico by those who know me. The rest of what she says is what the title of this blog is. She explained that it is a visible representation of the invisible act of when God cleansed her and saved her from spiritual death, putting to death the sin in her life and raising her to new life in Christ. I could not have said it any better.

We had a wonderful 5 hours in our home with these kids, just hanging out, talking about our faith and the freedom we have to share it publicly through things like baptimal services. And then towards the end of the long but great day they surprised one tired "Memo" with the song "las mañanitas" (the mexican birthday song). They brought in a birthday cake and we celebrated together not just my 35 years (that I happened to be celebrating the same day) but the life in Christ that we all share together.
